1st Tenet: Identify the problem this skill solves
The Problem:
Most people are not aware of their body or what the sensations throughout it mean. Your body is a complete muscle and without knowledge of how to isolate and restore them, you will injure (re-injure) yourself in basketball. The twisting, stopping, and high-impact nature of the movements required are highly damaging and perpetual. When players feel tension or soreness throughout their body, usually they do not know what it means or even what to do about it; so they continually play through it. This is the way to early retirement. Unaware that tension/soreness/pain means a certain muscle group is seriously compromised/damaged and in need of stretching and/or muscular development.
More Insight into the Problem
Rest is good, but cessation is not. Rest is when you continue to go to the gym and develop your muscle groups and the health of them, but you do not play; avoiding the dangerous and injurious nature of the repetitive movements of a game or practice. The NBA, today, is highly criticized for resting their players. But rest is a good thing. On the other hand, cessation is when you completely stop developing your muscle groups and the health of them altogether. When cessation occurs for an extended period of time, you become prone to injury because the muscle groups become decrepit due to poor blood flow!
Muscular development in basketball is mandatory or you will catch injury simply by stepping or moving into the angles on the court, similar to martial arts. This is a brutal and injurious art form. A teacher, or sensei, is needed.
Be a student and learn.

2nd Tenet: Study the knowledge
In this clip, simply stepping in a wet spot caused this player's injury:
In this clip, a young player who has not developed his knee joint collapses merely from stepping:
In this clip, Pat Bev praises Kawhi's understanding of the muscle groups, even in the hands. Kobe, however, has small hands and could use the advice:

3rd Tenet: Use the knowledge to solve the problem
Slow down. Look for the moment the problem appears. Slow down. Be watchful of the problem. Be vigilant in solving it!
The Moment: Anytime you feel tension, stiffness, or worse, pain, in any part of your body before, during, or after play it means a particular muscle group is compromised or damaged and in need of restoration. You need to locate the muscle group and restore it. This is done by stretching (w/ resistance) and developing the specific muscle group.
More Insight into Applying this Skill
The title of this blog, "Injury is Easy," is a double entendre, meaning it's saying 2 statements at once. One, injury is easy means just that; it is easy to get injured in basketball. Two, healing the injury is also easy once you understand the muscle groups, what their sensations mean, and what to do about it.
Be a student and apply.
Shalom
